Definition

Pipeline velocity: How quickly deals move through the pipeline, commonly calculated as (number of opportunities × win rate × average deal size) ÷ sales cycle length.

Example

40 opportunities × 25% win rate × $20,000 average deal ÷ 60-day cycle = about $3,333 of pipeline velocity per day.

Why it matters

Velocity often predicts revenue changes before deals close.
